France's Six Nations training squad 2020: the 42 players - in full

France's new head coach Fabien GalthiƩ has named 42 players in his training squad for the 2020 Six Nations.



Toulon back rower Charles Ollivon has been named captain of a young group of players - the squad has an average age of 24.

The squad is also inexperienced. Ollivon has 11 caps, while Gael Fickou is the most-capped player with 51. The group of 42 has only 350 caps between them.

Conspicuous absences are former captain, hooker Guilhem Guirado (33), and experienced half-backs Camille Lopez (30) and Maxime Machenaud (31). Age and experience has been discarded in key positions - the oldest front rower is 27-year-old Jefferson Poirot, the oldest scrum-half is 26-year-old Maxime Lucu, and the oldest fly-half is staggeringly 21-year-old Matthieu Jalibert.

Breakout Clermont winger Alivereti Raka (25), capped four times,  is also a surprise omission given his excellent performances.

Eight Toulouse players make the cut, with seven from Toulon, six from Racing 92 and five each from Bordeaux-BĆØgles and Montpellier HĆ©rault. Stade Francais have four players named, with Clermont Auvergne and Stade Rochelais getting two apiece in the squad.
